Deputy Store Manager

As right hand to and replacement of the store manager, you:

start from a department head position and take the final responsibility of a department, training your successor into this position.
The departments that can be taken are preferably Sales, Customer Relations or HR, as they are linked to the long term priorities, or are linked to the specific situation of the store as well as your own experience and competence development needs
gradually take the responsibility of one or more transversal processes into the whole store, covering elements in different departments and supporting the overall goals of the store.

You are both a leader and a manager who helps create the conditions for outstanding performance in all areas of the store.

You report to the store manager.

Specific responsibilities:

Establish IKEA as the leading Home Furnishing Company in your local market through a very strong commercial focus and delivery of the Concept.
Effectively lead and inspire your team, understanding the mix of skills needed to make a fully rounded team, choosing qualified people and creating an environment which encourages them to grow and give of their best. The Deputy Store Manager, working with and through others, brings together the specific competences of each function to achieve the store objectives.
In partnership with the HR function, work with your leaders to secure the competence of the department & Store by encouraging them to develop their successors in order for the Store to have in place a realistic and workable succession plan.
Coach your direct reports to ensure your team is working in an efficient, lean and simple way in order to maximize the efficiency of the department and the Store, through a process orientated workflow supported by staff planning and in line with the HR Idea.
Utilize relevant tools to include Commercial Review; CSI; Brand Capital and VOICE in order to develop the business, yourself and your team.
Support IKEA in Belgium with any other tasks and projects as they occur
Constantly evaluate the department and Store performance and identify change initiatives to improve the business, taking into account predicted social, economical and environmental changes.

Knowledge

Several years of comprehensive experience in high-volume or multi-unit retail management.
Strong knowledge and practical experience of retailing.
Experience in evaluating the performance of a retail unit.
An interest in and understanding of our customers, their needs and how they live, their shopping behavior and how they experience the store.
