Controller/Accountant ()

Our client is located in Brussels.

Robert Half is currently looking for a (m/f) Controller/Accountant for one of our clients active in construction.

Reporting to the Senior Controller, you will have following responsibilities:

1. Responsible for providing the support to the Senior controller in the financial close process of the Belgian trading entity and accountable for the accounting of the Dutch holdings to ensure accuracy and compliance of the reported results with both US GAAP and local GAAP (Belgian and Dutch GAAP).

2. Assist with local statutory compliance for all HQ entities:

• Preparation of local Statutory accounts in collaboration with local advisers (E&Y, law firms, …)
• VAT returns
• Tax & Intrastat filings
• Assistance in Corporate tax preparation and audits

3. Treasury Controlling Function :

• Ensure timely reconciliation of intercompany treasury accounts prepared by our external Shared Services
• Ensure controls and reconciliations of F/X operations with external deals
• Ensure monthly daily/monthly Treasury control/accounting activities are being performed

4. Maintain effective Internal Controls and SOX compliance in accordance with the TORA

• Preparation and completeness of all account reconciliations (and accompanying matrices) for all Holding entities on a timely basis
• Reviewing account reconciliations (and matrices) for other European entities on a timely basis
• Assist with preparation of the quarterly European Balance Sheet Review
• Assist with establishing the quarterly Trial Balance Reviews
• Preparation and completeness of quarterly BS reviews and Representation letters

5. Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders to ensure an effective closing process, external stakeholders to ensure a smooth audit process, the external Shared Services to ensure correct application of financial processes;

6. The Controller/Accountant, Belgium & Netherlands is challenged to improve and simplify all processes within the Accounting & Internal Control Function. In addition, s/he is expected to assist/lead European wide process standardization projects.

Any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, the title of the post and its grading as requested by the line manager or Head of Department.

The requested qualifications for this job include:

• Master or Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance;
• Minimum 5 years of experience, strong financial experience in industry, manufacturing industry experience is an advantage;
• Fluent in English, French and/or Dutch;
• IT literate: Excel, Word;
• Exposure to Sarbanes Oxley rules and procedures;
• Excellent communication, planning and organizing skills;
• Strong intellectual ability and sound process control knowledge;
• Stress resistant, proactive.
