Financial Analyst Retail @ Kipling ()

The role supports the Retail Finance Controller, Brand Finance and Brand Retail management, and owns the core financial processes including areas of Actuals processing, Forecast and Budgets together with ad-hoc analysis for own stores, outlets and e-comm (for Kipling and Eastpak).

 

Your main accountabilities:

 

Management support

  • Provide support to Brand Retail Management team covering areas such as:

             ° Margin vs. Revenue trade off with regard to in store promotions and      merchandising decisions.

° Creation of WEA document for new stores, extensions of leases or refurbishments (and related tracking).

  • Validate monthly revenue statements (to calculate turnover rents).
  • Other ad-hoc requests as required.

 

Weekly Reporting

  • Review of Weekly/Daily Sales Reports by Channel (Full-price stores, Outlets and e-commerce) to identify key trends.
  • Prepare & distribute ad-hoc KPI reports.

 

Monthly Actuals review

  • Ensure that variances to forecast are investigated and reported to management as appropriate.
  • Ensure that consistent accounting treatments, based on US GAAP, are applied.

 

Monthly forecast / Annual Budget process

  • Assist in preparation of Retail MPC based store level Forecast/Budget in accordance with the agreed corporate calendars for review with the Retail Financial Controller for sales, margin and 4-wall expenses.
  • Assist in preparation of the financial Forecast/Budget incorporating the latest targets in terms of revenue and margin, as well as relevant information (e.g. store openings/closures and 4-wall expenses)
  • Assist in preparation of Forecast/Budget decks to facilitate management reviews both with the Retail and management.
  • Based on forecast and actual trends prepare summaries of risks/opportunities to help identify areas where management intervention is required or opportunities for best practice sharing.
  • Involvement in creation of assumption review deck for budget meeting.

Qualifications

 

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for the individual to be successful in this position.

 

  • Education: Bachelor or Master Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics. Accounting degree/knowledge preferable.
  • Experience: experience in controlling, budgeting and reporting, preferably in multinational environment under US GAAP.
  • Language skills: Proficient in English, spoken as well as written. Knowledge of Dutch is a plus

 

Competencies

  • Previous experience within a Retail finance organization is mandatory.
  • MPC Experience preferred.
  • Cognos Experience preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of computer systems with emphasis on MS Office software and AS400 platform. Good Excel skills are essential.
  • Ability to work to a high level of detail and accuracy whilst maintaining perspective as to overall goals/result.
  • Excellent analytical and data handling skills including the ability to present numbers in a concise and value adding manner.
  • Good communication skills incl. experience of working with people from a non-financial background.
  • Experience of working in a customer facing team environment.
  • Knowledge of SOX and US accounting principles is an advantage.
