Role Description
External Supply (ES) is part of Pfizer Global Supply and is responsible for managing the product flow from contract manufacturers into the different markets worldwide.
The Global End-to-End Inventory Planner is accountable for coordinating supply chain management activities for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API’s) tolled into contract manufacturers located in Europe, Middle East and Africa. The API’s concerned are supplied from Pfizer Global Supply (PGS) and from certain 3rd party suppliers worldwide. (S)he will also handling the inventory accounting activities for the ES tolling API’s throughout the difference supply point entities by performing a monthly tolling inventory reconciliation.
This position is acting as key point of contact for any API supply chain and inventory related matters, is working on continuous improvement initiatives and is acting as Subject Mater Expert for one or more systems and processes related to ES inventory planning.
Responsibilities
In the area of supply chain planning the Global End-to-End Inventory Planner will be responsible to:
-Follow up and communicate on timely availability of API’s in accordance with supply chain agreements with the API suppliers and contract manufacturers and where needed adjust the supply plan in accordance with the supply chain situation,
-Detect changes/trends in forecast and inventory and contact API suppliers and/or contract manufactures for further explanation when needed,
-Secure timely issuance and approval of purchase orders and where relevant, follow-up availability of relevant shipping documentation from API suppliers to contract manufacturers,
-Follow-up with contract manufacturers of new API supply chains and secure first order at the API supplier’s planning in accordance with launch plan,
-Inform the contract manufacturers of expected major supply issues in a timely way, including root cause of the issue, actions being taken for resolution, and expected resolution date and elevate to Manager API Inventory and Accounting and Supply Chain Planner where needed,
-Review the supply chain agreements with the API suppliers on an annual basis to secure continued optimization of inventory and supply parameters,
-“Point of Contact” for (a) selected API S&OP(s) for all matters related to supply chain management for ES Europe purchased API’s. This includes attending the organized S&OP forum on a monthly basis with the API supplier(s) and with the relevant GL&S function(s) to review all supply issues, potential supply issues, and projects/programs having a significant impact, or expected to have such impact, on supply of API’s into ES SOH Europe.
In the area of inventory management the Global End-to-End Inventory Planner will be in charge to:
-Verify and critically review toll reports received from ES suppliers in view of ES bill of materials (BOM) and standard consumption,
-Reconcile tolling quantity and calculate, post & review resulting MUVs and P&L entries monthly,
-Make the toll inventory reconciliation sheet for audit purposes, analyze tolling inventories and take corrective action if needed,
-Collect, consolidate, verify and communicate forecasted API volumes per article to be used in the operational plan (budget),
-Periodically review the API demand forecast and inventory targets to detect important deviations from the information used for the operational plan (budget). Inform ES Finance of detected relevant changes.
-Update article information with new/changed BOM information, or provide update BOM information to the relevant support function and monitor and verify timely and correct set-up.
-Monitor current and projected inventory of tolled materials (API + SF) at contract manufacturers, to detect potential issues, slow moving, overstocking and unavailability situations and initiate/change action as necessary.
The Global End-to-End Inventory Planner is required to organize and execute tasks and activities based upon Operational Excellence (OpEx) principles. Use Opex methods and tools to solve issues, eliminate inefficiencies and continuously improve the quality and the effectiveness of the work. The person should support OpEx projects to improve effectiveness and/or efficiency of ES Europe Supply Chain operations.
Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor degree (Economics, Trade or Management) or equivalent through experience
5 to 10 years working experience in a Materials Management and / or Supply Chain Management in a manufacturing plant.
Knowledge of SAP processes and transactions related to supply and inventory management is a strong asset. APICS Certificate is a strong asset,
Advanced user-level of MS Office applications,
Excellent knowledge of both written and spoke English, knowledge of other European language is a plus,
Very good working knowledge of supply chain planning and inventory management tools.
Excellent communication, planning and organization skills are essential and also the ability to work in team as well as autonomously.
Sound analytical skills and able to work accurately are strongly required.
Good project management skills are required,
Six Sigma certification is a strong asset.
