Software Development Manager ()

Our client is a well-known Belgian player in the web industry, leader in its market segment. With a significant international presence, this company is growing steadily and is therefore expanding its management team.

As Software Development Manager, you’ll be in charge of leading mobile and web development teams. You will have strong organizational skills and a deep knowledge of architecture and SDLC.

Job Description:

• Lead web and mobile development teams
• Promote best practices in the team
• Ensure that the team is organised in the most efficient manner
• Continuously improve the quality and productivity of the team and their deliverables
• Provide an ongoing maintenance for our applications
• Coordinate projects with Infrastructure, QA and DBA teams
• Work hands-in-hand with the Product Management on the projects definitions
• Review, propose and implement a platform-wide software architecture
• Ensure all processes are adhered to and work with Management to put improvements in place
• Setup, maintain and keep up-to-date the deployment and development environments
• Responsible for the security of the platform
• Responsible for project and resource planning
• Report to the Head of IT
• Deliver quality software products, including enhancements and fixes
• Produce appropriate management dashboards and weekly reports

Profile:

• A senior level software developer with strong Experience of leading concurrently several teams of developers
• Experience of leading concurrently several teams of developers
• A full and broad knowledge in project management strategies and techniques
• Advanced level (knowledge and experience) of MVC programming languages, architectures and methodologies
• Knowledge of mobile development environments
• Knowledge of search engines architectures (Lucene/Solr) is a major asset
• Experience working with Service Oriented architectures
• Experience with Java, Coldfusion is an asset
• Experience of working with blended on and off-shore development teams
• Experience in setting up Software Development Lifecycle (waterfall and agile methods)
• Experience in Continuous Deployment is a major asset
• Customer focus: provide high quality service
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work as a team member with a flexible attitude and in an organized way
• Fluent in English. French and Dutch are strong assets
