Job summary
The Consulting Services team is hiring a Senior Technical Consultant to deliver and manage technical consulting projects with external customers in the EMEA region.
Under the local supervision of a Lead Technical Consultant, the Senior Technical Consultant will contribute during the pre-sales, delivery and post-sales of technical consulting services managed by the consultancy team in the BE office. The services range from on-site field services activities (installations, upgrades, configuration updates), project assistance to customers for their infrastructure related projects to consultancy assignments where we formulate key, clear and attainable recommendations to our customers. The range of consultancy engagements aims at helping our customers to improve their operational efficiency, reduce costs and mitigate operational risk.

Your responsibilities will be to
  • Under the local supervision of a Lead Technical Consultant, contribute to all steps in the process required to delivery payable technical consulting projects to our customers:
  • Be engaged in the pre-sales process in order to assess feasibility, budget and scope of potential technical consulting engagements
  • Document assignments in service proposal with clearly defined scopes, deliverables, budget
  • Perform technical studies/ consulting assignments on time and on budget and in line with documented scope and deliverables.
  • At the end of a consulting assignment, be responsible for the post-delivery project steps like internal reporting, helping customers and the relevant account manager to translate the recommendations into clear and tangible actions , customer satisfaction analysis …
  • Provide feed-back to the central team in order to enhance the consulting services portfolio, collateral and processes.
  • Focus will be on the delivery of payable technical studies/ consulting assignments like:

1. Technical Consulting: Assignments addressing medium term tactical customer requirements. Example assignments are Architecture studies, Technical audits, Impact analysis of customer changes like mergers, platform or version migrations, competitive interface migrations… For this type of consulting assignments, we expect the Senior Technical Consultant to:

  • Be the assignment leader for a small team of technical consultants performing above mentioned services. Ensure that the output of the team is of the highest standard. Maintain planning and be responsible for timely and on-budget delivery. Post-Project follow-up of all activities done by the consultants working on the assignment.
  • Prepare underlying documentation and supporting technical flows, and deliver high-level as well as detailed technical presentations and reports
  • Articulate objective, relevant and accurate recommendations for the customer to make operational improvements.
  • Identify potential business opportunities for SWIFT within the area covered by the team
  • Develop a strong and trusting operational relationship with (complex) customers during the engagement

2. Project management of SWIFT, community or customer driven changes .

  • Prepare and manage customer project plans.
  • Be a single point of contact for the customer to provide project assistance liaising with other SWIFT specialists
  • Follow-up on product/service deficiencies internally at SWIFT and ensure consistent communication towards the customer

3. Implementation Services:

  • Perform new installations, upgrades and configuration changes of SWIFT products like Alliance Access, Alliance Gateway …
  • Provide on-site support services during customer go-live of new or updated systems.

  • University degree in Computer Science, electronic engineering or equivalent.
  • Excellent English, both written and spoken, is required.
  • Any other major European language is an asset


  • Typically requires over 5 to 7 years experience, preferably in similar roles and/or industries.
  • Professional knowledge and expertise. Must have business knowledge in financial markets and a similar background in IT/Systems/Interfaces.
  • Knowledge of SWIFT Interfaces, Products and Services is a must.
  • Excellent analytical skills
