For Kipling, we are looking for a Demand Controller.  The worldwide headquarters of Kipling are established in Bornem.  These days, a bag is an accessory that has become essential. One of the cult objects of today’s life, it is an integral part of our personality   show me your bag and I’ll tell you who you are. Trendy, practical and informal, our Kipling bags are part of everyday life for more than 35 million women in 67 countries throughout the world.

The purpose of the role is to gather, predict, monitor, adjust and influence brand demand in line with financial plans for all channels for EMEA. You play a critical role between various departments such as sales, product development and planning.
In order to fulfill this role, you have to
Develop a deep understanding of the brand and business strategy
o What are the overall goals of the business?
o Where will the brand play (regions, channels, product categories, products, depth of range and colours)?
o What are the expected revenue levels and growth plans for the different regions and direct markets, for the different products?
o Will marketing tools, visual merchandising, website, … push any specific products or product group?
Develop and maintain a close relationship with product development
o Understand seasonal merchandising forecast and link with strategy
o Gather, analyse and discuss initial sales forecast and link with merchandizing forecast, strategy and financial targets
o Provide sku performance insight and guidelines
Develop and maintain a close relationship with planning controller
o Develop and communicate demand planning calendars in alignment with production and sales order deadlines
o Gather, analyse and provide monthly forecast data
  ? Monitor forecast versus financial targets/budgets/trends/actual sales
  ? Monitor changes in forecast and access impact on inventory
  ? Includes forecast assumptions and a measure of risk or opportunity in each forecast
o Season summary document with facts and figures, recommendations, key learning, … .
o Follow-up on distressed inventory
o Co-responsibility to build the inventory roll
o Be able to act as back-up for the planning controller function
o Follow-up on all contract and reservation orders
Develop and maintain a close relationship with sales
o Perform root cause analysis to determine next steps for continuous improvement of inputs, methodologies and
statistical manipulation of forecast models supporting monthly forecast development
Take leadership in driving, improving and documenting the demand planning process (techniques/method/approach) and tools (current and future)
Be a key player in the monthly sales and operations planning (S&OP) process
o drive the “demand review” meeting
o participate in the “product review” meeting

Master degree (engineer, economics, …)

At least 3-5 years experience in demand or inventory management

You have good working knowledge of computer systems with emphasis on Microsoft Office (especially Excel)

Fluent in English, spoken as well as written. Knowledge of Dutch language is an asset

Strong analytical skills, numerical interest, precise

Good working knowledge of systems with emphasis on Microsoft Office Windows 2007, advanced level of Excel and Access, programme skills in visual Basic is an advantage

Good communication skills, problem solver, extremely reliable, proactive behaviour, able to prioritize tasks, stress resistant, work independent but team player at the same time, able to keep the helicopter view
