Senior Business Intelligence Frontend Developer ()

Job summary

SWIFT has a successful commercial business intelligence offering called Watch, with more than 160 customers worldwide. Next to Watch we offer many other BI & Reporting services to our internal customers.
With numerous initiatives in the pipeline to extend the scope of Watch and further exploit the gold mine of data, we are looking for a motivated frontend (MicroStrategy) developer in the Business Intelligence Systems team to help making these initiatives a success. Your responsibilities will be to

• Design, develop, test, and support BI applications in line with agreed requirements
• Work with the customer and the analyst to review requirements and propose design options for implementing the solution; challenge the requirements when needed and ensure they are inline with the roadmap; present the options with cost and benefits and jointly agree on the implementation approach to take
• Provide timing/scheduling estimates and propose corrective actions to timelines when necessary
• Implement and test the solution according to the requirements and roadmap, following the best practices and guidelines, and delivering high quality output
• Effectively communicate development progress to the team and raise the alarm immediately when deviating from the plan
• Provide support and technical assistance to team members and internal customers
• Run or assist in technical feasibility studies, prototypes, and proof of concepts
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and prepare and give presentations to internal customers
• Assist with enhancing and maintaining the continuous integration framework; constantly strive to further automate and optimize where possible
• As part of a scrum team, be flexible to temporarily take on other assignments (analysis, backend development, testing, …)

Education

• University degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Information Systems, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent work experience

Experience

• 5-10 years of IT development experience in a medium size team

Professional knowledge and expertise

• Good understanding of Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence design and architecture concepts, including OLAP
• Extensive knowledge of the MicroStrategy toolset and capabilities: desktop, architect, command mgr, object mgr, enterprise mgr, integrity mgr, multisource, mobile…
• Data modelling (data warehouse, ERD) skills
• Oracle database development: SQL is a must, PL/SQL, basic DBA knowledge and Oracle OLAP are a pro
• Web- and application server technologies and tools
• Network protocols
• LDAP and Active Directory
• Security concepts and implementation
• UNIX, shell and perl scripting; basic system administration eg. Solaris packaging
• Change management and versioning tools (Clearcase)
• Scrum and agile methodologies
• Excellent analytical skills
• Strong communication; fluent in English
• A team player, willing to work in a multicultural environment
